About Stage to Move

In 2007, Kara Woods founded one of the first professional home staging companies in Northern Fairfield County, Connecticut. Today, Staged to Move serves a network of satisfied clients in the tri-state area who sell their homes faster or enjoy other benefits of re-designed home space.

Kara has been featured on FOX Television in New York City and named the 2010/11 Professional Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women for outstanding leadership and commitment in the staging and design profession. In 2009, Staged to Move won the Designers Challenge Award at the 2009 Association of Design and Education (ADE) Conference.

This recognition brought more opportunities for working with people, designing spaces, transforming rooms, managing a thriving business—all of which are important to Kara. But her real satisfaction comes from client transformations! When a newly staged home inspires homeowners, Kara knows that she has worked her magic.

She recalls, "I staged a couple's bedroom, and they really loved it. Later the wife called to thank me again for making their bedroom an oasis. She said that she and her husband look forward to going to their 'retreat.' "

"Homebuyers also sense the transformations. They feel relaxed in a room that projects an enjoyable lifestyle, and this encourages a sale."

"The seemingly small changes that I make affect how people live and interact. That's a great day of work to me! I feel wonderful helping to make that happen."

As a former business consultant, Kara also appreciates the competitive edge that Staged to Move provides. Clients credit her talent for working within many different budgets, superior organization skills, and efficiency in completing projects. Others appreciate her access to exclusive, high-end furniture rental companies. And Kara employs still more project management skills.

Kara’s client's say she has "an ability to smooth things out, make it work, and get along with everyone." Kara tries to limit her work so that she focuses on only a few projects at a time. This attention to detail and customer service has yielded positive referrals from each of her Staged to Move clients.

Kara is an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP), trained in design and business management. This is the only nationally recognized staging accreditation, considered the leader by the American Association of Realtors. Kara is also a member of the International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP) and the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA).

Kara earned a B.A. in Hotel and Restaurant Management with a Business Minor from Purdue University and continued her business education at Northwestern University. She is the mother of three boys. An avid runner and tri-athlete, she credits them with helping to improve her track times! Her current goal is to run the New York City marathon.

"Staging" Testimonial

Although I work in the design industry, I needed Stage to Move's expertise to transform my living space from ordinary to one that gets those "WOW" exclamations each time. Kara Woods was able to envision key changes to my furniture layout to highlight the traditional details in my historic brownstone home.

With a limited budget she added just a few items and moved furniture from other rooms to pull the living rooms together. She organized the rooms and eliminated the clutter.

Over the past 18 months I have referred her to colleagues in need of design assistance and to contractors who desperately need to stage speculatively built residential projects for that extra edge. Her design expertise is worth every penny and in this competitive housing market you really can't afford not to look for the help of a professional.
